'The all-time low': Trump lashes out at Time's 'extremely poor' cover photo.
It is a glowing article in a publication that Donald Trump has frequently admired – but for one catch. The cover picture, he stated, ""could be the worst ever".
Time magazine's praise to the president's involvement in brokering a Gaza ceasefire, leading its 10 November issue, was accompanied by a image of Trump taken from below and with the sun shining from the back.
The result, the president asserts, is ""extremely poor".
"Time Magazine wrote a fairly positive story about me, but the picture may be the most awful ever", the president posted on Truth Social.
“My hair was erased, and then there was an object above my head that looked like a floating crown, but quite miniature. Really weird! I have consistently disliked being shot from underneath, but this is a super bad image, and it should be denounced. What is their goal, and why?”
Donald Trump has shown obvious his ambition to appear on Time magazine's front page and achieved this four times last year. The obsession has made it as far as Trump’s golf clubs – in 2017, the publication requested to remove fake issues exhibited in some of his properties.
The latest edition’s photo was captured by Graeme Sloane for Bloomberg at the presidential residence on October 5.
The perspective highlighted negatively the president's jawline and throat – a chance that California governor Gavin Newsom did not miss, with his press office sharing an altered image with the offending area obscured.
{The Israeli captives held in Gaza have been released under the opening part of Trump's ceasefire agreement, alongside a release of Palestinian detainees. The arrangement may become a defining accomplishment of Trump's second term, and it may represent a pivotal moment for the region.
Meanwhile, a support for Trump's image has emerged from an unexpected source: the spokesperson at the Russian foreign ministry came forward to criticise the "revealing" photo selection.
"It’s astonishing: a photo reveals far more about those who picked it than about the subject. Only sick people, people driven by hatred and hatred –perhaps even perverts – could have selected such an image", Maria Zakharova shared on the messaging platform.
"And given the complimentary photos of Biden that the periodical used on the cover, even with his age-related challenges, the story is simply self-incriminating for Time", she added.
The answer to the president's inquiries – what were Time’s editors doing, and why? – could be related to artistically representing a impression of strength stated by an imaging expert, a media professional.
The photograph technically is professionally taken," she explains. "They selected this photo because they wanted trump to look impressive. Gazing upward evokes a feeling of their importance and his expression actually looks reflective and almost slightly angelic. It’s not often you see images of the president in such a calm instance – the picture feels tender."
Trump’s hair appears to “disappear” because the light from behind has bleached that section of the image, creating a halo effect, she adds. Even though the feature's heading marries well with the president's look in the image, "one cannot constantly gratify the person photographed."
Few people appreciate being shot from underneath, and although all of the thematic components of the image are very strong, the visual appeal are unflattering."
The publication approached Time magazine for feedback.
