The latest action-packed game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal glee, all while presenting captivating, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose work have embodied all of those qualities.

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a new setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our common irreverent, ambitious approach to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
